Do you take insurance?
At this time, NSCC is a self-pay private practice and does not accept insurance.
Will my insurance company reimburse clinical counseling services?
Some insurance companies are willing to reimburse a certain amount of mental health services.
What are some of the perks to paying out of pocket?
1. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis for payouts and not all treatment warrants a diagnosis. 2. Only you and your counselor know the details of your counseling sessions. 3. Out of pocket means you can find a licensed counselor specifically suited for your concerns who is carrying a caseload that affords them the ability to spend focused time on you and your care.
What can I expect when I request a call back?
You can expect a North Star Team Member to Call and set up a collaboration meeting which is a free 20 minute phone call intended to provide a space for you to tell us what you have in mind and for us to share about the services we provide.
If I move forward after the collaboration meeting, what are the next steps?
A North Star Team Member will send you the required paperwork to become a client. Once that paperwork is received you will be paired with a clinician and your first appointment will be scheduled.
What style of counseling services are provided at North Star?
Counseling styles vary by clinician and are noted in the bio section of each clinician on our team page.
Some counselors focus on emotions, some focus on behaviors, some focus on career...What type of counselors are at North Star?
The particular focus of counseling depends upon the client and what they aim to achieve. By reviewing the bios of the available counselors, you will get a better understanding of what to expect.
What can counseling address?
As our clinicians capitalize on the strengths of our clients issues can range from simple life transitions to significant trauma to developing as a leader. Counseling is intended to provide a spacious space for client to explore, gain insights, and take action based upon their goals.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
No. Though we make it our aim to work with clients on a case-by-case scenario. If you can’t afford the rates, make your needs known and we will do our best to work with you or provide other options.
How long is a counseling session?
Typical counseling sessions are approximately 45-50 minutes in length. Couples and family session can range between 60-90 minutes
I want to bring my child and/or adolescent to counseling...What can I expect?
The first session (intake session) will be between the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) of the minor. The second session will be between the minor and counselor. The third session will take place between the parent(s) and/or guardian(s), the minor, and the clinician. Following sessions will take place between the minor and the clinician with intermittent session with just the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) or the parent(s)/guardian(s) and the minor.

North Star will schedule a collaboration call with a point person from the small business, clarify the presenting concerns, and then draft a proposal for how specific solutions can be implemented.
